Giorgia, Ore. rise, Ohio St., Clemson fall

Did you want equality and uncertainty in the College Football Playoffs match? This is your year. Two from last season’s field have already lost. Another barely beat Toledo last week. The season favorite needed a break to beat Tulane in Week 1. Another trendy pick just lost his starting quarterback to injury and had to overtake Colorado.

This sets up a season that many envisioned during the playoff era. Nobody knows who will go to the semifinals because there are imperfect teams at the top of the poll. Well, except for Alabama.

However, there are three more places to fill and the possibilities of how the season unfolds are endless. It’s exciting, unless you’re trying to predict who will make it to the semi-finals so early in the season.

Georgia linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson (10) intercepts a return pass for a touchdown against Alabama-Birmingham during the second half at Sanford Stadium.

This week’s forecast should see some major changes. Ohio State falls due to its loss in Oregon. The Ducks entered the field as did Georgia, given the growing likelihood that the Bulldogs will complete an undefeated regular season and face Alabama in the SEC title match.

TAKE IT EASY:The top five overreactions of week 2 include Oregon, Michigan

UPS AND DOWNS:Winners and losers of week 2 in college football

INDEX OF MISERY:First place goes to Southern California, Clay Helton

The other team that loses its place is Clemson. The Oregon win puts the Tigers in a precarious position where their loss to Georgia leaves them with no quality win to rack up against other potential champions with a single defeat.

This, of course, is where the picture is today. There is still a lot of football and certainly some upheaval will happen.
